What is HRT Therapy?
HRT therapy is a medical treatment that supplements the body with hormones it no longer produces enough of. This allows the body to balance hormone levels, relieving symptoms of deficiency, aging, and imbalance. There are two different types of HRT: bioidentical and standard. Bioidentical uses hormones that are chemically identical to those produced naturally in the human body, while standard uses synthetic or animal-derived hormones in standardized doses.
The goal of HRT therapy is to enhance the quality of life by restoring hormonal balance. For women, estrogen and progesterone hormones are typically used to relieve symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and mood swings. For men, testosterone is typically used to improve libido, energy levels, and muscle mass. HRT therapy typically comes in the form of a spray, cream, pill, patch, injection, gel, or pellet.
