What Are Joint Pain Injections?

At Vibrant Life Spa, we offer joint pain injections using platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a concentrated solution of a patient’s own blood that contains a high concentration of platelets and growth factors, accelerating healing in joints, ligaments, cartilage, and muscles. When the PRP is injected, and the growth factors are absorbed into the body, it reduces inflammation by decreasing swelling and pain and promotes tissue repair by stimulating cell growth and repair in damaged tendons.

After PRP injections for joint pain, movement becomes easier and less painful, making everyday life more comfortable and enjoyable. Ultrasound may be used to provide real-time, high-resolution imaging to help the provider accurately guide the needle to the site of tissue damage or inflammation.

Joint pain injections using PRP are an effective alternative to masking symptoms with medication or surgery.

What’s the First Step?

Your Botox & Wrinkle Relaxer Journey with Vibrant Life Med Spa

The first step toward receiving our Joint Pain Injection treatment is to schedule a private consultation at our office in The Colony, just outside Frisco. When you come in for your consultation, you will discuss your medical history, lifestyle, goals, areas of pain and limited mobility, benefits, potential risks, and expectations regarding the treatment. Our provider will also examine your areas of pain to determine if the procedure is right for you.

The consultation is a great time to ask additional questions about the treatment to ensure you fully understand what you are signing up for. Clarity and our patients’ safety are our top priorities, so we are completely transparent in our answers and recommendations.

At the end of your consultation, our team will give you your custom treatment plan and outline payment options. From there, an appointment will be scheduled for you to receive the injections.

What to Expect on the Day of a Joint Pain Injection Treatment

On the day of your joint pain injection treatment, you will arrive at our office in The Colony near Frisco to check in. To begin treatment, your blood will be drawn from your arm, as the inner elbow contains large, easily accessible veins for a quick, relatively painless draw. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge, where it is separated to create the PRP. A topical numbing agent will be applied to the targeted area before the PRP is injected into the joint. You may feel a slight prick, but the numbing agent will make it very tolerable.

Your arm and targeted areas might be a little sore, swollen, or stiff immediately after the injections, but this is normal.

Joint Pain Injection Recovery

The first few days after you receive the injections will involve the most swelling, soreness, and stiffness, but it is mild to moderate. You will be prescribed pain medication to alleviate the discomfort, but it is crucial to avoid anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Ibuprofen, Advil, and Aleve, for at least a couple of weeks, as they can interfere with your body’s reaction to the PRP and the healing process.

You should avoid strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and high-impact sports for the first 1-3 weeks, as you will need time to let the tissues repair without high impact. You may do some light, controlled movements, such as walking and stretching, to reduce stiffness. You may slowly resume gentle exercises 3-6 weeks after the injections, but you should still be careful to avoid injuring the healing tissue.

Follow all other instructions given during your consultation and the day of injection.

How Much Do Joint Pain Injections Cost in Frisco, TX?

The cost of a joint pain injection in The Colony, Frisco, and the North Texas area might look different for you than for other patients. This is because the cost is significantly influenced by the number of injections you receive, the joints being injected, the complexity of the injury, the use of ultrasound guidance, and the provider’s experience.
